What is a prepaid card?
The Credit Union prepaid card is a pay-as-you-go VISA payment card. Cardholders 'load' money onto the card from their credit union account, which can then be used to buy goods and services or withdraw from cash machines, in the same way as a debit card.
The prepaid card does not have an overdraft facility.
What are the benefits?
The Credit Union prepaid card is a simple, safe and low cost alternative to carrying cash and a great way to shop online. It can also be used as great budgeting tool and as a way to quickly receive a Credit Union loan.
How does it work?
-
The pre-paid card is provided by your primary credit union in conjunction with the Association of British Credit Unions (ABCUL) or Contis Financial Services Ltd.
-
Load money onto the card from one of your Credit Union accounts either on a one off basis or regularly to coincide with wages or benefits.
-
Use your card to withdraw cash or make purchases in shops or online, just like any VISA card.
-
Manage your card online, by text or over the telephone.
-
Reload the card as many times as you like.
